Tuition Assistance

SCS Tuition Assistance Program

Southfield Christian School (SCS) offers a financial aid program designed to help families who need help in meeting tuition costs.  Tuition Assistance is available to students in grades K through 12 (not prekindergarten). The program is not intended to provide full scholarships. Awards are typically between 10% and 25% of tuition.  All applications are handled with strictest confidentiality. All awards are subject to the availability of funds.
Please note that tuition assistance funds are limited each year and application for aid is not a guarantee of award.

How to Apply

List of 3 items.

  • Step One: Admissions Application

Complete the SCS student application. (There is no application fee. Returning SCS families do not need to complete the student application and should start with step two.)
  • Step Two: Tuition Assistance Request Form

Email the Tuition Assistance Request Form to the Tuition Assistance Committee at ta@southfieldchristian.org.

    Tuition Assistance Request Form

If using a web browser to edit the Form, after completing the form, please use the Print: Save As PDF option to save before returning the form.

    * If you have a split tuition agreement, each individual must complete separate FACTS applications. Tuition assistance (TA) awards are granted based on the percentage the TA applicant is paying for.
  • Step Three: FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (FGAA) application

Once the student application and Tuition Assistance Request Form have been received, applicants will receive an email with the link to the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (FGAA) application. The data entered into this secure online program will be used to objectively analyze financial need and calculate a recommended “family contribution” toward tuition.

Tuition Assistance Timeline

Tuition Assistance Applications may be submitted beginning January 1 for the school year beginning in the Fall. Tuition Assistance applications will no longer be accepted after October 15, or once all funds have been awarded, whichever comes first. After completing the Tuition Assistance application steps, please allow 2-3 weeks for a decision from the Tuition Assistance Committee.  Applicants will be notified of award decisions by the SCS Director of Finance.

Student Benevolence Fund

Sometimes families encounter financial hardships during the school year after all tuition assistance has been granted. Such hardship usually involves severe or extenuating circumstances which cause a family to withdraw its student(s) from SCS because tuition payments are no longer feasible. The SCS Student Benevolence Fund allows donors to pay tuition for families who would otherwise withdraw from SCS. Contact the SCS Director of Finance for details.

Eligibility

  • Tuition Assistance is available for new families who have completed the application process and have been offered enrollment.
  • Tuition Assistance is available for current families who have re-enrolled and are current on tuition and fees.
  • Families must meet financial need requirements based on an independent assessment of need.
  • Families who already receive a tuition discount may also apply for Tuition Assistance.  Some families may qualify for a tuition discount if they are a full-time Christian worker, career missionary family or an employee.
  • Tuition Assistance must be requested each year.
  • If multiple individuals are responsible for a percentage of a student’s tuition, each individual must apply for tuition assistance separately. Tuition assistance (TA) awards are granted based on the percentage the TA applicant is paying for.
